Apartment Review
This place has turned to crap...

This seemed to be a nice place to live when I moved in here, but has gone seriously downhill lately. Two days ago 15 mailboxes were broken into. Where was security when this happened (you know, the security we are SUPPOSED to have)? Although maintenance walks around every morning and picks up trash, it is back all over the grounds by noon. Will maintenance bend over and pick up a piece of trash when they are not on their normal trash rounds? NO, because they don't have their little picker-upper gadget, which would require them to bend over. So, the trash sits until the next morning, and blows all over the place...usually in my backyard or front porch, so I have to pick up someone else's trash. The security gates have not been operational since I have moved in here. I was told that the gates are only left open M-W-F during the day for the trash pickup. Wrong. This was one of the reasons I moved in here, because of the security gates. The service gate that is supposed to be closed, is sometimes open 24-7, and over the weekend, which leads to many problems...increased traffic, increased crime, people parking here to go to the park...etc. My neighbor has had his car stolen once, and an attempted theft another time, but they were busted in the act, which all leads back to the gates being non-operational. There was a family of ten living in a one bedroom apartment here, and they just got locked out of their apartment for non-payment of rent. Between ten people they could not come up with the rent...what does that tell you? Yes, we have serious drug problems here. Then the people were living on the lawn (and sleeping) outside their apartment for two and a half days. Management STILL has not removed their bed, couch, and boxes and bags of belongings, and it has been two weeks since they were evicted. It just makes the place look trashy. And the pool...another reason I chose this complex. For the past two summers it has only been open for a total of two weeks. Last year it was kept closed because someone wore clothes in the pool and clogged up the pump. So, they punished everyone who lived here because of one person's act, and kept the pool closed all summer. This summer, they started pulling the same thing, but I guess enough people complained, and they are now staying on top of the pool situation. Although, I will say they only open it at their discretion. Certain maintenance (you know who you are) tells people they will open it when they feel like it, or get around to putting the chemicals in. There is a sign that says it opens at 10am...more often than not, it does not open until the afternoon, not allowing the adults to swim without 30 peeing and pooping kids in the pool. The majority of management is nice, though. I have to give credit where it is due. The office/apartment manager is quite pleasant, and seems only willing to help. But Ms. top manager, you REALLY need to get this place under control! And, if I am wrong, please feel free to rebut my statements. But, you know I am right. There is one maintenance person who is great, and seems to be the only one who really knows what he is doing. And, Mr. head maintenance guy, you know who you are! Whenever another maintenance person comes to fix (HA!) something, I have to call back to have it fixed properly by Mr. head maintenance guy. He is always running. I imagine it is difficult for him to have to fix things on HIS list, and then have to go refix things someone else was supposed to fix. Mr. head maintenance guy, you REALLY need to stop and take a breath. If I am complying with the rules of my lease, and living like a good neighbor, shouldn't the management make everyone follow those rules? And, shouldn't this complex be what it was advertised to me when I chose to sign the lease? It really surprises me that management does not keep this place up to standards, as they themselves live here! While the inside of my apartment is nice and clean, the outside leaves EVERYTHING to be desired. The windows are single insulated, and poorly insulated at that. When it is windy, (which is usually the case, as we live in a canyon) you can hear the wind howling through the windows, like a stay at home mom of fifteen kids who has just learned that her husband was killed in a tragic accident. It is hard to sleep with this kind of racket going on. I can see light around my front door, and can feel the heat and cold blowing in, depending on the season. PLEASE, fix this place!!!
