| We lived in Camino Real for 1 year. During our stay we had several maintanence issues that needed to be tended to. Some included... The closet shelf fell (because they're flimsy)...and it was repaired within a few hours. The garbage disposal in the sink clogged up (because we were idiots and put potato peels down)...and the guy came out after hours to fix our mess. Props for that! We had a broken microwave, busted track for a kitchen drawer, burned out kitchen lights, and poor door/window insulation. Of all of these problems the only thing I gave up on and did it myself was the door/window weather stripping. They came out and "fixed" it once. (By fix I mean, fiddle with the stripping and "tighten" the door). I gave up an spent a few bucks and did a new bit of weather stripping. Consaquently our energy bills went down. The only major problem we had with Camino Real was a careless staff when it came time to renew our lease. First we needed our co-signer to resign (which wasn't true). Then we didn't.Then they spelled our names wrong on the lease. Then they set the lease from February 05 to March 05. (It should've been to '06 and even we overlooked that). Then they needed us to come initial the change to '06.When we went to sign off on the change, they had a spot for the cosigner to sign (which we'd already agreed wasn't necessary). Bottom line - they changed it AFTER we had signed the lease.I seriously doubt there was any intent to screw with the lease. I believe it was simple carelessness. But when you're talking about $9,000+ over the course of the year, carelessness has no place. In any regard, the property manager asked if it would be alright to void the lease out and rewrite it without all of the mistakes. We agreed and then informed her we'd be vacating the property. All in all, the property manager was very professional about it, in fact, I think she might have been a bit embarassed by the mistakes on the lease. No hard feelings. At the end of the month we'll part ways and that will be that. Lesson learned: Don't sign ANYTHING without looking at it several times (to catch any mistakes etc). |
